My Own Two Hands

My Own Two Hands

December 21st, 2023

I decided to document parts of my work when creating abstract art. "My Own Two Hands" was created whilst the sound of the entire Opus 18 of Beethoven's String Quartets filled the room. It felt like I was taking every wrong turn when deciding which color to use, or what shapes to create. I got quite frustrated with the art about half-way through so I decided to channel all of my energy into the art as tangibly as I could. I put bright red paint on both of my hands, threw them onto the paper, and made angry little snow angles

with my hands. I thought I ruined my art, but it ended up opening up the opportunity to take the art in a whole new direction!! I learned a neat lesson from it too; no matter what happens, beauty exists even in difficult situations and can be found if you look in the right places. In this case, I found the beauty in my own two hands. I hope you enjoy the documentation!

COLOR
AND
SOUND

I experience color and texture when I listen to music. This is what happens when I listen to the same song on repeat for hours on end. If I sit with the sound long enough, I can find every bit of detail that exists like finding little hidden sound gems. Then, it's a matter of transferring the ideas onto a canvas. I have found that digital art is much more user-friendly for this type of creating because it has the element of quickness and variety that I need so my work flow doesn't feel held back.
